Registered Dietitian Nutritionist ~ Integrative & Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner

Hi, I'm Rebecca!

I’ve spent the past 4 years as a dietitian in the public system, helping hundreds of patients understand the impacts of nutrition and make sustainable lifestyle changes to improve their health. These experiences, along with my training in integrative and functional nutrition, have helped shape my unique approach that blends evidence-based nutrition therapy, cutting-edge functional practices, and holistic healing techniques to promote long-lasting results.

Now, I use this approach to help individuals struggling with chronic digestive issues heal their gut and restore digestive balance so they can reclaim a healthy, vibrant life. I believe that a healthy gut is the foundation for overall well-being, and I am committed to providing you with the resources and support you need to achieve it.

My Story

My passion for food and nutrition started when I was in high school. I participated in macrobiotic cooking classes, attended an intensive 3-day seminar at the Kushi Institute, and even taught my own community cooking class as part of a school project. I quickly became fascinated by the power of nutrition, and soon realized this was going to be my career.

I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and completed my dietetic internship through the University of Oklahoma in 2019. I passed my exam, became a Registered Dietitian, and was ready to start my career in nutrition! Determined to find my place in the field, I explored many different areas. I worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospitals and home health. While I gained valuable experience in each of these roles, I never truly felt fulfilled. I loved connecting with my patients, listening to their stories, and supporting them in their health journeys.

However, I felt limited within the conventional medicine system, as nutrition is often regarded as a secondary or supportive therapy, with medications and surgeries taking precedence as first line approaches. This was deeply frustrating for me, as I knew the power of nutrition. I noticed that medications were not helping patients heal and recover from their illness; they were simply a means of managing symptoms. Based on everything I had learned throughout my formal education well as my self-guided learning, I knew that if we want to truly heal, nutrition and lifestyle interventions must be a priority.

That's when found integrative and functional nutrition, and everything fell into place. This approach resonated with me on a whole new level. It emphasizes the importance of nutrition, the mind-body connection, and treating each person as a unique individual rather than just a set of symptoms. It aims to target the root causes of health issues to facilitate true healing. The more I learned about integrative and functional nutrition, the more I began to realize this is where I belong in the nutrition field. In 2021 I decided to make it official, and I started a certification program through the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy (IFNA).

As I progressed through this certification program, one theme stood out: "when in doubt, start with the gut," as Hippocrates famously quoted, "all disease begins in the gut." It is where we absorb nutrients, which fuel all of our body's organs and help them to function properly. Additionally, our gut serves as a vital component of our immune system and acts as a protective barrier, preventing harmful substances from entering our bloodstream. The health of our digestive system, therefore, has major impacts on the rest of our body.

I began to take a particular interest in gut health, and when I experienced changes in my own digestion, I addressed them with a holistic approach, using techniques I had learned in my studies. Yes, I've been right where you are, suffering from painful bloating and irregular bowel patterns. I've spent the past 2 years diving deep into the study of functional nutrition and healing my own digestive issues, gaining a wealth of knowledge and resources in the process.

And now, I have the opportunity to utilize all I’ve learned to help individuals like you, seeking a holistic, long-term solution to their digestive issues. I finally found my passion and my purpose in the nutrition field - helping people heal from their digestive symptoms, bring their bodies back into balance, and reclaim a healthy, vibrant life!
